Woodshop Gallery has been in business here in Hawaii since 1986. Originally from New Zealand the McLarens built a 49 foot sail boat in 1975 and set off to sail around the world with their two small children, who were home schooled along the way. For twelve years the family sailed to remote Islands and visited many different countries. It was an amazing voyage and they have many adventures to tell. Eventually the children became teenagers and it was time to find a home base. After many years of living in the tropics Hawaii became the obvious choice and Kauai was where they put down the anchor. Woodshop Gallery started business in the small town of Hanapepe on the West side of Kauai. At that time there was a very large woodshop in the back with a small retail shop in the front, selling only products and furniture that was being made on the premises. In November 1991 Hurricane ‘Iniki’ swept through the Island of Kauai, devastating the Island destroying the Woodshop Gallery along with the building. Relocating to Hawaii Island in 1992 and starting a new Woodshop Gallery was once again in business and is still operating to this day.
