It is a bit basic: a nut store, and a nut factory with viewing windows. The tour highlight is the Seal-O-Matic, which ensures that your nuts stay fresh and tasty!! The drive in is very pretty, and feels like you're going through a tunnel of trees. They have a lot of different nut flavors, and they do let you sample them before buying. This is a great place to pick up some gifts for home, as who doesn't want a 6-can box of tasty, flavored, Hawaiian Macadamias?

Easy drive to this nuts factory, was disappointed that there was no proper tour though. Only some windows to look through and see workers making the nuts. Would prefer to have someone explaining the macadamia tree, it’s characteristics and the process of collecting and roasting them. Basically it’s just a shop to purchase the nuts but if you go any Long Drugs supermarket, the price is actually cheaper. Plus point is you can sample unlimited nuts here with all the flavours.

The self guided outdoor tour was informative and interesting. BUT the staff was unfriendly, they didn't make us feel welcome, and you have to beg for samples. It's not a visitor center - it's a store, they want you to buy. They also sell pearls and jewelry for some reason. I was not impressed with Mauna Loa. Hamakua mac nut on the other hand, was friendly and generous with free samples and coffee.

Had to visit the Mauna Loa nut factory, descent store. Some souvenirs and very good customer service. At 11 ish the bus arrived from the cruise ship so it got a little busy. Got to try 8 different nuts. Short self guided tour, saw where they roast the nuts, and how they covered the nuts in chocolate. Kids enjoyed seeing the process, didn’t look at the menu but in the back is a little food stand with dining porch. Macadamia nut prices were the same, not inflated.

Stingy with the samples. You have to ask for each flavor individually and they don't seem happy to doll then out. Too bad I couldn't try more without feeling guilty or perhaps I would have tried some I liked!
