History:
Hilo Tropical Gardens was opened just after World War II, in 1946.
Hailed as the first public garden in all of the Big Island, the once popular and well-groomed grounds were carefully stocked with prized tropical foliage and flowers.
After years of neglect, the heritage gardens are now being preserved and restored for future generations to enjoy.
A new theme was hatched to transform the botanical garden into a destination for adventurous travelers who seek a unique and authentic Hawaiian experience that is affordable and memorable.
