The Hawaii Theatre Center was established in 1984 as a private non-profit organization to restore, renovate and operate the Hawaii Theatre as a leading performance center in downtown Honolulu, to benefit the people of Hawaii and visitors to Honolulu by:
Providing a broad range of entertainment, cultural and educational experiences in a facility of recognized excellence. Providing education opportunities for Hawaii's young people. Promoting the redevelopment of downtown Honolulu and stimulating its use in the evening and on weekends. Enhancing the quality of life in Honolulu.
