1. Skeleton Key Hawaii, Kailua, HI

Organized by Jorge Garcia, Skeleton Key Hawaii is a brand new haunted house with the theme of Carnival of Dreams. This haunted house is recommended for those aged 12 and over. This scary attraction is not for the faint of heart, although there are a few specific evening hours that are milder and meant for kids or more timid adults.

2. Haunted Plantation, Waipahu, HI

Nightmare Live is a haunted attraction hosted by Dole Plantations. This startling event has been open for more than 10 years. This is one of Hawaii’s scariest Halloween events and because of this, it is not recommended for children under the age of 13. Instead of being a simple haunted house, this is an entire haunted village full of thrills. The very scary video clips that are on their Facebook page give you a taste of what you’ll experience at the plantation.

3. Zombie Paintball Massacre, Honolulu, HI

On select dates throughout October, head over to the Zombie Paintball Massacre. Hosted by Scream 808, this popular event runs after dark and is meant to be both scary and active. The costumed actors, light, and sound features make this event a unique and frightening way to practice paintballing.

4. Waipahu Ghost Trolley Tour, Waipahu, HI

For a bone chilling event, head to Waipahu for the annual Ghost Trolley Tour. This spooky tour has several different routes and features narration by local storytellers. Proceeds go to benefit HEAL, a local project aimed at rejuvenating local businesses. 

5. Oahu Ghost Tours, Honolulu, HI

Oahu Ghost Tours focuses on real live ghost stories and haunted events that have happened throughout Hawaii’s history. Oahu is actually supposed to be one of the most haunted islands in the U.S—therefore, you know you’ll fear the dark by the time you return to your accommodation after your tour. Oahu Ghost Tours offers four different tour options that require some hiking or walking and take you throughout the island.

6. Mysteries of Hawai’i, Oahu, HI

With year-round frightening events, plus special Halloween events, Mysteries of Hawai’i is a great way for adults to spend the Halloween season in Oahu. The whole month of October features different special events including the Haunted Fort Street Mall Walking Tour and Ghosts of Old Honolulu Walking Tours. For eight dates only, they also offer a Haunted Honolulu Zombie Trolley Tour. This trolley tour includes a 1.5-hour trolley ride through haunted Honolulu.

7. Honolulu Ghost and Mystery Tours by Steven Fredrick, Honolulu, HI

For the month of October, Honolulu Ghost and Mystery Tours is offering a Walk with the Dead Ghost Tour. Walk through 1.5 miles of mystery, murder, and suicide stories through Honolulu and Chinatown. Running throughout October, this special event is a great way to see the city in a frightful light.

8. Hawaii Escape Challenge at Pearlridge Center, Aiea, HI

Try the Cellar escape room challenge, which is a one-hour long challenge that allows for five to 12 participants. This scary challenge is set in the pitch black with sounds of screaming. You understand you are kidnapped and must get out before your captor returns. But can you figure out how?
