Hawaii’s Oldest Food Festival Celebrates the Culture Behind Kona’s World Famous Cup of Coffee! Throughout the 10-day Festival, celebrate the harvest as Kona coffee farms offer a firsthand look at growing this world-famous crop, the coffee art scene fills with inspiration, and music and dance enrich cultural exchanges. Kona coffee and food events offer tastings, and hands-on cultural events help tell the story of Kona’s rich coffee history.

Schedule of Events:

9:00 am – 4:00 pm: Kona Coffee Cultural Festival Ho’olaule’a

A day-long celebration of Kona Coffee and its cultural heritage:

Cultural Demonstrations – Hands-on crafts including flower and ti leaf lei making, lauhala weaving, pan roasting coffee, poi pounding, ohe kapala (bamboo stamping), and more. The Kona Hongwanji Saga Soryu group will display a number of ikebana arrangements.

Entertainment – Entertainment throughout the day with multi-cultural performances honoring Kona’s multi-heritage coffee history. Hawaiian, Samoan, Japanese, Filipino, and Korean groups will be on stage.

Cost: $5 Festival Admission Button. Kids under 5 free

10:00 am – 4:00 pm: Kona Coffee Cultural Festival Quilt Show

Coffee-themed works of art from local quilters on display express exceptional interpretations of Kona’s coffee heritage. Cast your vote for Viewers Choice awards.

Cost: $5 Festival Admission Button. Kids under 5 free

6:30 am – 10:00 am: 100% Pure Kona Coffee Marathon and Half Marathon

Come and join us for our fourth annual “shot” at the 100% Pure Kona Coffee Marathon and Half Marathon! This will be the first year that we will be adding the Marathon distance so come out and enjoy this beautiful course with us.

Run the scenic coast of Kailua-Kona down Ali’i Drive to the infamous “Pit” at the “End of the World”. Enjoy views of the Pacific Ocean as you complete your chosen distance!

Cost: $50 until October 10 and $60 through November 9
